FAQ

The name was sparked by a track by the French Trip-Hop collective Chinese Man when I decided to returned to Switzerland in 2021 to open a new chapter in my life and jump into the world of specialty coffee while opening a coffee shop with integrated micro-roasting in the heart of Lausanne.
In a world of social media where everyone tries to be so "extraordinary", we believe there is beauty in being "ordinary".
To us, "Ordinary Man" represents the human spirit in everyone - no matter the gender.
We are all ordinary beings, yet each of us is extraordinary in our own unique way.
Our coffee is a tribute to that daily, ordinary/extraordinary ritual.

Specialty Coffee is the highest grade of coffee available, representing the top 10% of beans grown globally. Unlike "commodity" coffee found on most supermarket shelves, specialty coffee is defined by three main pillars:
1. Exceptional Quality
To be certified "Specialty," coffee must earn a score of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). It is evaluated by certified experts (Q Graders) for its aroma, acidity, body, and flavor profile.
2. Full Traceability
We believe you should know exactly where your coffee comes from. Our beans are traceable back to specific farms, altitudes, and even individual harvests, rather than being anonymous blends from various regions.
3. Craftsmanship
From the farmer who hand-picks only the ripest cherries to the roaster who develops specific "profiles" to highlight natural notes like citrus, chocolate, or jasmine -every step is handled with precision to ensure a superior cup.
In short: Specialty coffee is about quality over quantity, celebrating unique flavors while ensuring farmers are paid fairly for their expertise.

We roast weekly in the back of our Coffee Shop in the heart of Lausanne, Switzerland to ensure the freshness of the coffee beans.

Coffee’s biggest enemies are light, heat, and oxygen.
To keep your beans at their peak, keep them in our original resealable bag or an airtight container in a cool, dark cupboard. Avoid the fridge!
The moisture can actually damage the delicate oils that give specialty coffee its flavor.
For the best experience, try to enjoy your beans within 4–6 weeks of the roast date.

Coffee is like fruit - once it’s cut (or ground), it begins to oxidize and lose its vibrant aromas within minutes. To give you the best experience, we recommend buying whole beans and grinding them just before brewing.
However, if you don't have a grinder yet, we can grind your bag specifically for your brew method (Espresso, V60, or French Press) upon request!
